Re: [Discuss] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3 - RC2*

I really really need more folks who test for me this RC on Windows. The
real issue and changes was there. Here is how you can test changes:

1) In the installer you have currently available Apache Flex SDK 4.16.1 RC1
- I will soon send email for VOTE. Test it with Adobe Air 27 cause it's the
newest and the biggest one.

Today I was testing a lot this SDK with Installer and I had couple of times
some weird errors, but it wasn't related with out of memory, so I think we
may be good here.

2) Apache Flex SDK 4.16 + Adobe Air greater than 23 you could still have
some problems, cause there is existing issue in installer.xml which I did
mention in the VOTE thread.

Thanks! Piotr

Alex Harui-2
Piotr, did you change how you generated the MD5 files?  It appears to be
upper-case now and Ant doesn't like it.

I guess I will update the file on dist.a.o.

Re: [Discuss] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3 - RC2*

Alex Harui-2
Hi Piotr,

I decided not to update the files because I was running out of time.
However, I think we will need another RC anyway.  I am still curious as to
how you got uppercase MD5 files.  I thought Ant would generate lowercase
always.

I built and ran the installer from sources on Windows and tried to use it
to install the 4.16.1 RC1.  Unfortunately, it did not work and I got "out
of memory" when downloading Adobe AIR SDK 27.

Maybe I should have been paying closer attention, but it was only after
digging into it that I realized that it looks like only the Unzip task now
uses PowerShell on Windows, whereas I think Get and Checksum will as well.

Could there be something about the way I built the Installer that would
make it run out of memory when it doesn't for others?

Sorry, for not noticing this stuff sooner.

Re: [Discuss] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3 - RC2*

piotrz
Alex,

Ok if it looks like on your end I need to add PowerShell for other places.
Unzip by PowerShell is not used for example for SDK unpacking - it's going
different paths. - Not sure why it has own downloading logic.

However if you did get during download out of memory I will try to change
logic for download to use PowerShell, cause it is possible to do this. I
see that memory of installer increase during download operation, if
downloading itself will happen using external tool like PowerShell we will
be good.

Let me think about it more. I have to admit that I didn't get out of memory
once I change unzip to PowerShell for Adobe Air. I got different errors
sometimes. Too bad that there is not so many active folks here we would
discover something earlier.

Thanks! Piotr

Re: [Discuss] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3 - RC2*

Hi Alex,

I think I have fixed your issue. I have switched downloading in class Ant
-> Get through windows Powershell using .NET class [1]. I need to test my
solution on Windows 7 which I'm going to do this today.
The only problem is with progress of downloading. Basically I'm
getting bytesTotal
in ProgressEvent 0, but we can leave with that I think. On Windows 10
everything is going smooth and installer has max 150 MB in memory.

Thanks, Piotr

Re: [Discuss] Release Apache Flex SDK Installer 3.3 - RC2*

Alex Harui-2
OK, I guess.  I thought that the installer would draw a funky progress bar
if bytesTotal was 0.

Thanks for looking into it.
